Mavis is social scientist with a background in midwifery and additional training in medical anthropology. Her interest is in exploring people’s self-identities and how, as patients, people navigate health systems. In addition, she is interested in exploring how patients interpret the usefulness of new biomedical technologies. Future research focus is on how to ethically govern the use of biomedical research and health interventions, especially researching the views and voices of people from LMIC and minority populations in Western countries to ensure diverse voices are represented in health care research and practice.
