Dr. Bombard specializes in the assessment and translation of genomic technologies in clinical care. Her research in this area focuses on assessing the health outcomes, ethical and policy implications of integrating personalized genomic tests and technologies into health care. She conducted Canada’s first national study on genetic discrimination. This research was published in the British Medical Journal and has translated into legislative bills in Canada and into international clinical practice guidelines.

Dr. Bombard serves on international genetics and policy expert committees, in which she contributes to the development of policy and clinical practice guidelines. She is a frequent contributor and commentator on genetics in both broadcast and print media. Her research has been featured in over 50 media articles, including the Globe & Mail, Huffington Post, CTV, CBC and Toronto Star, among others.

Dr. Bombard has also developed a related program of research on public engagement to inform health technology assessment and policy development, for which she received the Inaugural Maurice McGregor Award from Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH).
