The Genomic Knowledge Standards (GKS) Work Stream has found that holding in-person hackathons every six months has significantly advanced the development of GKS specifications and tools required for implementers, developers, and community members to successfully adopt. Our third hackathon will take place the two days preceding Connect at the Broad Institute in Cambridge, USA. In this session, we will bring outcomes "hot off the press" to Connect attendees who were unable to attend the hackathon in person so that they can receive the latest updates on GKS products, aiding adoption decisions. Kori Kuzma from Nationwide Children's Hospital and Kyle Ferriter from the Broad Institute are accomplished software engineers that have been working on GKS tooling from the beginning. They will provide an engaging report-out along with hackathon attendees of the hackathon's major outcomes, including technical advancements, proof-of-concept implementations, and identified opportunities for improvement.
