Privacy and security compliance needs around data sharing can vary significantly across different regulatory environments. Government-funded data is governed differently in different locations and differently from privately funded data. Searching, running large batch jobs, or doing interactive analysis and visualisation all carry different constellations of policy and technical concerns.
We will examine how different Data Access Request (DAR) approval systems impact data sharing workflows. This includes exploring the use of dbGaP, DUOS, and other mechanisms for storing and managing authorisation data across varying research programs.
When implementing services or data repositories, what threats and risks must be managed, and what are the options to control those risks? What conflicts arise between data sharing, security, and privacy? How do we resolve these conflicts?
