The Experiments Metadata Standard group focuses on creating a standardised dictionary of properties for describing genomic experiments. Our goal is to ensure that metadata accompanying genomic datasets is comprehensive and consistent, making it easier for researchers to understand and utilise the data.
During Fall 2024, we completed a first draft of our core Experiments Metadata Checklist, focusing on the discoverability aspects of FAIR. We are now looking to take a deeper dive into specific categories of experiments. For that, we are relying on Driver Projects to provide some level of expertise on high-level experiments categories such as "targeted sequencing", "transcriptomics", "chromatin-related", and so on. We seek on this upcoming Connect session to:
- reach out to Driver Projects, updating them on latest group development;
- obtain feedback on experiments categories, and the type of properties that they should contain ;
- revisit the strategy to increase adoption of the core checklist;
- discuss future orientations of the group for the year to come.
