Name
Scaling the Federated Variant-Level Matching Network
Date & Time
Tuesday, April 14, 2026, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Description
The Variant Level Matchmaking (VLM) network is a federated system enabling secure, standardised matching of genomic variants across independent clinical and research databases. This session will provide updates on the network’s growth, technical milestones, and open challenges.
The session will facilitate community discussion on several pressing technical topics, such as:
- the utility of using genomic hashing for sample identity;
- the handling of high-frequency variants and large-scale data returns;
- challenges and approaches to variant harmonisation for indels and structural variants.
Meeting aims:
- Appreciate the opportunities and challenges associated with creating genomic hashing for sample identity
- Review the various options for including alternate phenotype attributes
- Analyse the current status and development work for matching in indels
