Name
From guidance to practice: pilot-testing responsible generative AI guidance points for genomic data sharing
Date & Time
Thursday, April 16, 2026, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Description

This session will work toward concrete and technical approaches to pilot-testing the guidance points on the responsible use of generative AI for genomic data sharing, as developed and released by the generative AI Study Group of REWS.

The session will engage the newly established AI Work Stream, discussing how the technical workforce can contribute their expertise and input to the next phase of the Study Group’s mandate (i.e. pilot-testing using an established AI tool as a practical use case to assess how the guidance can be applied in real-world settings).

The future pilot-testing of the guidance points will allow us to refine them and ensure their effective implementation, both within a pilot project and across generative AI tools that will be used by the GA4GH community when accessing genomics and health-related data online.
