Name
Building trustworthy AI in genomics and health: launching the GA4GH AI Work Stream
Date & Time
Thursday, April 16, 2026, 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Description

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping human genomics — from discovery and biobank-scale analysis to clinical interpretation support. The opportunity is immense, but so is the risk of fragmentation, irreproducibility, inequitable performance, and tools that outpace governance.

GA4GH has long provided the technical and policy foundation that enables genomic data to move responsibly across institutions and borders. As AI becomes embedded in genomics workflows, the community now needs shared standards that ensure transparency, replicability, equity, and real-world effectiveness.

This interactive workshop will introduce and refine the proposed cross-cutting GA4GH AI Work Stream charter. Participants will discuss scope, governance, and alignment across existing Work Streams, and collaboratively identify the first priority product spaces — such as transparency and provenance profiles, evaluation frameworks, and interoperability standards.

Join us to help define how AI in genomics can scale with integrity, interoperability, and trust.
