Name
NIF Session: Coordinating Large-Scale Implementation of GA4GH Standards
Date & Time
Wednesday, April 15, 2026, 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Description
Building on previous National Initiative Forum (NIF) discussions on barriers to GA4GH adoption and large-scale genomic implementation, this session will focus on the coordinating real-world deployment of GA4GH standards across diverse healthcare and research systems. Members will share challenges and lessons learned in the context of concrete implementation, with discussions focusing on:
- Practical barriers to adoption at the national level (e.g., legal, technical, infrastructural, and policy constraints)
- Federated and staged approaches to data sharing
- How standards interact with existing national governance frameworks
GA4GH leadership, policy, and technical experts attending the Connect meeting will be invited to support an interactive discussion aimed at identifying concrete next steps to accelerate responsible, large-scale implementation, including opportunities for coordinated pilot projects, benchmarking, or working groups across NIF members.
