GKS / Phenopackets schema interoperability
Date & Time

Description

As GA4GH products mature and are increasingly deployed together, alignment between them has become critical for reducing integration burden and ensuring downstream data integrity. This session presents a joint strategic framework between the GKS and Clin/Pheno Work Streams to drive deep interoperability and maximise reuse across the Phenopackets, VA-Spec, VRS, and Cat-VRS specifications, focusing on opportunities for shared schema elements.

We will detail our guiding principles and commitment to minimiszing representational drift by anchoring both Work Streams to shared core entities wherever possible. Where immediate model convergence is not feasible due to current versioning lifecycles, we will describe the development of interoperability support within reference implementations to act as a bridge. Finally, we will outline the proposed decision-making and escalation model, ensuring a clear pathway from product-level technical discussions through Work sStream leadership and GA4GH governance.
