Michèle Ramsay
Dr Michèle Ramsay is a professor in human genetics and, since 2014, the director of the Sydney Brenner Institute for Molecular Bioscience in the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She is the president of the International Federation of Human Genetics Societies and chair of the International Scientific Program Committee for the ICHG2023. In her role as co-chair of the International HundredK+ Cohorts Consortium (IHCC) Scientific Steering Committee, she promotes cohort building in LMICs and is an advocate for responsible data and benefit sharing. Ramsay's research interests include monogenic and complex disease genomics and translational science. Her focus is on genetic epidemiology and gene-environment interactions of cardiometabolic diseases in African populations, as well as population genetics.
