Gabriel Wallau is a Principal Investigator of the Public Health Researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation - Aggeu Magalhaes Institute. Dr. Wallau develop his work on the Entomology Department and Bioinformatic core of the institution. As a PI, he coordinates several initiatives around a major research line focused on genomics of pathogens and vectors. One of these initiatives is the Fiocruz Genomic Network, a collaborative project aimed to provide reliable data and tools to tackle the COVID-19 pandemics from the genomics surveillance point of view. Dr. Wallau is the head of the bioinformatics development team and co-leads the network with other FIOCRUZ and partners institutions. Dr. Wallau has experience in the field of evolutionary biology and genomics, working on the following topics: molecular evolution, bioinformatics and omics methodologies applied to pathogens and vectors.
