Prof. Gerardo Jimenez-Sanchez is the CEO of Genomica Medica, a leading laboratory in DNA tests for diagnosis and prevention of human disease. He is a medical doctor, and pediatrician, Ph.D. in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology (Johns Hopkins), and holds a degree in Business Administration (IPADE). Along with David Valle and Barton Childs, he developed the first medical analysis of the human genome. Prof. Jimenez was the founder Director of the National Institute of Genomic Medicine in Mexico; he was the principal investigator for the HapMap of the Mexican Population, and Chief Scientific Officer at Biofields. He served as a Council Member in Biotechnology to the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan. President of Biotechnology at the OECD and Director of the Innovation and Personalized Medicine Program at Harvard's T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He sits on several Boards of Directors and Advisory Boards, including the Board of Directors of the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH). Formerly he served as a Council member of the Human Genome Organization (HUGO), where he chaired its Committee on Genomics and Bioeconomy, Board Member of the Public Population Projects in Genomics and Society (P3G), Member of the Scientific Council for the Grand Challenges in Genomics at the World Health Organization, and President of the Mexican Society of Genomic Medicine. He is author of research articles, chapters, and books in pediatrics, genomics, and medicine. Member of the National Academy of Medicine, of Pediatrics, and other international scientific societies. Prof. Jimenez has received prestigious awards for his scientific research and institutional accomplishments.
