Name
Advancing Variant Level Matching (VLM) and phenotype data sharing: building a federated network
Date & Time
Monday, September 16, 2024, 11:15 AM - 12:45 PM
Description

This interactive GA4GH Connect session will tackle pivotal topics related to implementing variant level matching and querying using the Beacon v2.0 API. Building on discussions from the April Connect meeting in Ascona, this session aims to address broader aspects of the VLM project. Key topics will include exploring the integration of phenotype data sharing including use of Phenopackets, optimising variant query and representation standards (Beacon and VRS) to enhance compatibility across platforms, discussing the design of a federated network and whether any centralised hubs are needed, and evaluating the role of GA4GH Passports to ensure secure database connections within the federated VLM network. We will also be exploring strategies to enhance the interoperability and efficiency of the VLM network, with a focus on actionable steps for future implementations.
