I received my PhD training at Dr. Humaira Gowher’s laboratory at Purdue University’s Department of Biochemistry. My research involved the use of embryonic stem cells and embryonal carcinoma cells differentiation as model system to mechanistically dissect how enhancers fail to be silenced in cancer stem cells. After receiving my PhD, I worked as an assistant professor at King Saud University, Collage of Science with a standing collaboration with my mentor, Prof. Fowzan S Alkuraya, as a scientist in his lab at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Department of Translational Genomics. Under the leadership of Prof. Alkuraya, we were able to make impactful discoveries and published many high impact papers. After moving away from the pure academic setting of a University and settling in King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre’s Center of Genomics Medicine, I have been appointed as section head of Developmental Genetics group at the Department of Translational Genomics.
