Building -omics bridges for precision health
Description

Precision health increasingly relies on integrating genomic data with the spatial architecture of tissues, systemic microbiome profiles, and functional proteomics. While GA4GH frameworks effectively manage genomic data, we face new interoperability challenges when attempting to align these multi-dimensional, multi-species datasets into cohesive precision medicine research cohorts.

This session will explore these emerging domains to identify integration gaps and chart a realistic collaborative path forward. A round of short lightning talks by experts in proteomics, spatial omics and microbiome will outline the unique data architectures of their modalities and highlight existing domain-specific standards. Then it will move into breakout groups focused on identifying where existing GA4GH standards and products (e.g. Phenopackets, Experiments Metadata Checklist, Data Repository Service, Genomic Knowledge Standards) can fill current gaps and where new work is needed across Work Streams and Study Groups. The session will conclude with a reconvened debrief.

The goal is to build a shared understanding of multi-omics requirements and outline the work needed to support them within our existing infrastructure.
