Name
Passport/AAI v2.0 and beyond
Description

Join the Data Security Work Stream (DSWS) and fellow technical implementers to continue development of the next generation of GA4GH Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructure (AAI) and Passport. At the previous Connect meeting, we outlined a set of features for release within the upcoming Passport and AAI v2.0 releases.

Together, we will review the features proposed for release including any existing pull requests. These new features include: JSON-LD support, identity-only passports, and task-specific tokens. Progress since the April Connect 2026 meeting and via the DSWS Hackathon in July 2026 will also be reviewed within the context of the overall release timeline. Furthermore, half of the session will be dedicated to developing a vision for Passport/AAI beyond the v2.0 release — including high priority features or fundamental shifts in the federated access paradigm. Your expertise is crucial for shaping a scalable and robust framework for the future of data access.

The session's outcomes will be feedback on the proposed Passport/AAI roadmap and any feature pull requests. Outcomes will also include a high-level vision and feature list for the Passport/AAI specifications beyond the upcoming v2.0 releases.
