Abstract
Cohort study can provide critical evidence for disease prevention and public health policy. China possesses a substantial cohort resource comprising numerous representative studies spanning natural population, cancer, and chronic disease cohorts. Yet, the current landscape is hindered by data dispersion, inconsistent standards, a paucity of sharing mechanisms, and low data utilization. To address the above problems, China National Center for Bioinformation (CNCB) is developing China Biobank to provide cohort data submission, mining and sharing. Key standards, protocols, and incentive frameworks have been established for cohort data selection, submission, processing, and sharing, to guide data aggregation, new data generation, and China Biobank development and operation, thereby promoting efficient and sustainable data sharing. The newly established data standards and management frameworks will substantially facilitate the global sharing and utilization of cohort data from China.
