Larry Babb is a Senior Principal Software Engineer at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. He has spent 30 years designing and developing data models, software and tooling, with the past 15 years particularly focused on managing and sharing genetic data to improve clinical care. Since joining Broad he is fully devoted to both leading and contributing to grant work involved in cross-organization systems design, development and data sharing standards to advance the computational reliability of genetics knowledge for use in clinical practice. For the past 18 years he split his time between participating in community and grant activities developing, supporting and designing clinical genetic testing systems. Mr. Babb is in his 8th year of participation in the Clinical Genome (ClinGen) Resource grant. He primarily serves as co-chair of the Data Platform Work Group for ClinGen (https://www.clinicalgenome.org/working-groups/data-platform). He is a co-chair of the GA4GH Genomic Knowledge Workstream (GKS) Variant Representation group and contributor to Variation Representation Specification (VRS), Variation Annotation (VA) and VRSATILE.
