David Torrents obtained his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Barcelona in 2000. He then entered in the world of genomics and bioinformatics at the EMBL in Heidelberg. In 2006 he became Research Professor ICREA and since then, he is head of the Computational Genomics Group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, doing bioinformatics research around the relationship between genomic variation and diseases.
