Name
Where is global? Geolocation in genomics
Description

Geographic locations ("Geolocations") represent a data quality inherently associated with many levels of data discovery, federation, and interpretation in biomedical genomics. Several different use cases and applications have been discussed throughout GA4GH Work Streams and Driver Projects, with a rather well developed consensus for a subset of GeoJSON, where such information would be implemented.

This session intends to finalise a proposal and direct implementation requests for a geographic location object, while addressing questions of use-case specific requirements such as provenance assignment and limiting location precision for limiting unintentional exposure to re-identification risks.
