This session will initiate work on a set of guidelines on the types of content that could be included in a community-driven, infectious disease-focused web portal. During the COVID-19 pandemic, such portals were crucial in bridging the infectious disease and public health communities. They aided in the FAIR, and early sharing of research outputs (especially data), and combined this with public health information.
Multiple international initiatives are working to create a global network of these portals (termed ‘nodes’) to maxmise pandemic preparedness. Much of the work has focused on facilitating the deployment of nodes, and creating shared operational standards; lowering barriers related to technical expertise, and resources. However, guidance is needed on the types of content to consider, and how to prioritise it. This will help new nodes getting started, and facilitate greater levels of international collaboration between nodes.
