Mercury Shitindo is a bioethicist and research governance expert, currently serving as Chair and Executive Director of the Africa Bioethics Network (ABN), a continental platform advancing ethics capacity, research equity, and responsible data governance across Africa. She leads multiple interdisciplinary initiatives focused on climate-health ethics, genomic data governance, and digital health innovation. Mercury contributes to global ethics bodies, including the World Health Organisation (WHO) Ethics Review Committee Secretariat and the GA4GH Regulatory & Ethics Work Stream, and serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the African Journal of Bioethics. Her work bridges policy, practice, and community engagement to promote ethical and inclusive research systems across the Global South.
