Tazro Ohta, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Chiba University’s Institute for Advanced Academic Research and Graduate School of Medicine. His work centers on open infrastructure for large-scale omics and clinical genomics, including workflow systems, databases, and secure cloud platforms. Ohta leads Sapporo, the open-source GA4GH Workflow Execution Service (WES) implementation that enables reproducible, multi-language workflows across diverse compute environments. A Co-Lead of the GA4GH Cloud WES standard, he also co-organises BioHackathon Japan, which promotes international collaboration and data sharing standards. His current interests include cross-border genomic data governance, machine-learning-powered medical data science, and ultra-long-term data management.
