Professor Emily Jefferson is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Health Data Research UK, Interim Director of DARE UK, and a Professor of Health Data Science. Both HDR UK and DARE UK are heavily involved in TRE standards and interoperability to enable research to scale.
Emily’s main research interest is in innovative methods for the provision of sensitive linked data at pace and scale which meets both data governance requirements and those of the research community. Emily has a degree in Biochemistry, a PhD in Bioinformatics and was employed as a post-doctoral researcher in Bioinformatics following her PhD. She has spent time in industry, cycling from New Zealand to the UK and also ran a regional TRE for over a decade before starting her current post at HDR UK.
